Going nuts for Nuts N’ More

In recent months, I’ve jumped on the ‘clean eating’ bandwagon. Yeah, you feel great – blah blah blah – but it’s at the expense of enjoyable food, namely pizza. Healthy alternatives are rarely up to par in the taste category; I’m sorry, but spaghetti squash just does not replace pasta. Then came that fateful afternoon when I was given a product to try.


Fans of the show Shark Tank are probably familiar with Nuts N’ More Chocolate Peanut Butter. Admittedly, I have never heard of it, but I was immediately intrigued. It certainly looks great on paper with handsome packaging and the word ‘chocolate’ on the label. Plus, between the whey protein and flax, one serving equals 14 grams of protein with one gram of sugar and no sodium. With stats that impressive, there’s bound to be something wrong with it. Only the taste test would tell, and I pledged to be thorough.


Round one: The spoon test.

To be honest, it wasn’t love at first site. The granular texture from the flax took me off guard, and the cocoa flavor didn’t stand out as much as I’d expected. Basically, it just tastes like peanuts, as it should. No conclusions were to be made just yet.


Round two: Pre-workout snack

Believe me when I say finding a snack that is clean, satiating but not overly so is a very real struggle in my life. My pre-workout snack needs to be light enough to keep down when the going gets tough while still preventing a mid-workout shut down. I have to say Nuts N’ More stepped up to the plate. With one serving of peanut butter on a slice of wheat toast, I was able to maintain a solid energy level throughout my entire workout with no issues; Works every time. Plus, to my delight, the toast seems to amplify the chocolate flavor.


Round three: Post-workout shake

Typically, I throw together a quick post-workout shake with chocolate protein powder, almond milk, and a banana since that’s about as much energy as I’m willing to put into food prep at that time. I try to stay away from traditional peanut butter for the most part, but Nuts N’ More, being the ultimate substitute that it is, was a perfect fit. In fact, this product gives it a little something extra. I think it’s those flax seeds again. All I know is chocolate + peanut butter + banana = perfection.


Bonus: They have a social life, too.

I do love a product with a personality, and Nuts N’ More has plenty of it. It was a relief to see they find the humor in their name, so I didn’t have to point it out for them. Hook, line and sinker. I’m officially a brand advocate (addict) of Nuts N’ More Chocolate Peanut Butter. My only issue? I don’t know where to buy these other than online (which is probably better for my wallet). What I do know, Cinnamon Raisin Almond Butter, I’m coming for you next.
