As a native Texan, I consider myself an expert on a couple of things – country music, football, line dancing … and last, but not least … BBQ sauce.
All joking aside, I’ve tasted my fair share of BBQ and the glorious sauce that accompanies it.
Something interesting I’ve learned is the fact that Texans go big or go home, and it’s hard to compare our flair for the savory kick of flavor in each bite.
I learned this the hard way after eating at an unnamed BBQ restaurant in Times Square (what was I thinking?!).
I’ve recovered (ok … well … almost) from that experience, and I’ve moved on with my life.
I’m branching out and trying new BBQ sauces.
Anyone ever notice how the Shark Tank moguls can be a little bitter? Clearly, all that’s been missing was a little BBQ sauce – Pork Barrel BBQ Sauce to be specific.
After I almost spilled the entire contents on the floor of my home, I had the chance to experience the flavor that won Barbara Cochran’s heart.
I slathered it all over a turkey burger, because you only live once, right? (Actually, at only 35 calories per serving, it complimented my “diet” quite nicely.)
I instantly fell in love. Everything was just right – the thickness, the flavor…yes. No wonder it’s been ranked as one of the best BBQ sauces in the nation.
The recipe is savory with a touch of spice. It’s a good kick, but it isn’t too much that it knocks you over. The smoky endnotes finished the overall flavor really well.
The sauce is the epitome of all-American and belongs at every family cook-out (and more importantly, smeared all over everyone’s faces).
It’s official, I’m a fan of Pork Barrel BBQ Sauce.
Is it time for seconds yet?
