There’s a Pinterest copycat out there but it has a religious slant and a less catchy name: Godinterest.
If you enjoy Pinterest but want a more Christian-oriented environment, then Godinterest might be what you are looking for. It’s a “photo-driven, Christian, social media site that allows you to upload photos and share cool things that you find on the web.”
Most of the pin categories are the same as Pinterest, such as “animals” and “women’s fashion,” but there are also a few new categories such as “devotionals” and “sermons.”
Here are some sample pins from Godinterest:
What’s the big difference between using Godinterest and having a religious board on Pinterest? I can’t tell. Both sites allow you to create boards, pin images, search pins and follow other boards. And if you’re looking for Christianity on Pinterest, you’ll find it. There are plenty of varying religious boards.
Will Godinterest allow advertising? How will the site make money? Will they ask users to pay to be members? Pinterest has ads and promoted pins.
Pinterest has a huge following – one Godinterest can’t even come close to competing with – but perhaps that’s not their mission. They are getting a lot of press about being a Pinterest copycat though, that’s for sure.
Welcome to the Internet, Godinterest.
Anyone taking any bets on a Jewish or Islamic Pinterest popping up next?
