Do you spend a lot of time on Facebook? Well, now you have an excuse to spend even more time on the social media platform with the launch of FB Newswire. FB Newswire is for all you news junkies out there who want to keep up with what’s going on in the world. In fact, Facebook wants it to be a resource for journalists. It will “aggregate newsworthy social content shared publicly on Facebook by individuals and organizations.” Facebook has partnered with Storyful, a news agency that does just that.
It makes a lot of sense, right? So many news stories break on social media platforms first. Newswire will show stories from around the world, in many different languages. All stories will be verified for authenticity before going live. And, unlike the notorious personalized Facebook Newsfeed, Newswire will NOT be personalized. In other words, everyone sees the same stuff.
Here are some of the stories it’s shared so far:
Twitter has really been king of the live-breaking news, so it will be interesting to see how this new service from Facebook holds up against it. It should be noted that the Facebook service has a Twitter handle as well, @FBNewswire.

If you can’t beat them, join em? Will you ‘like’ FB Newswire or follow it on Twitter?
