Have you ever wondered what it would be like to step inside your social stream or discover who your social media match might be? Your Instagram counterpart, your Twitter twin? Now you can do both, with Social Soul.

 

Social Soul is an immersive digital experience that links social media users by the content within their respective social streams. Created by artists Kyle McDonald and Lauren McCarthy with the marketing agency MKG, Social Soul is basically a large room full of monitors and mirrors reflecting your social updates and statuses. You are assigned a theme:

 

  • Techie
  • Humanitarian
  • Explorer
  • Creative
  • Foodie

 

Then it finds your social match with a custom algorithm.

 

 

Social Soul was sponsored by Delta Airlines for the TED conference in Vancouver last month. Delta Airlines used Social Soul Mate to promote its new “Innovation Class” which is a mentoring program in partnership with LinkedIn. A mentoring program at 35,000 feet!

 

According to the website, Innovation Class will work like this:

“We will be selecting leaders in innovation on their way to events around the globe for the program. They’ll be sitting in the mentor seat. The seat next to them will be open. This is your chance to sit in that seat. We’ll fly you to the event, get you in to the event, and, most importantly, give you one-on-one access you might never otherwise get.”
