If Shakespeare truly believed that “Brevity is the soul of wit,” then he would have really loved Twitter. Even more, though, he’d love what’s about to happen on Twitter! Twitter is taking a couple of days to diverge from its usual fare and spend some time on fiction. The #TwitterFiction Festival is upon us, and the site’s about to be bursting with fun things to read!

Scheduled March 12-16, this digital storytelling event is now in its second year. It’s sponsored by the Association of American Publishers, Penguin Random House, and Twitter, and will feature an interesting range of selected authors: over 50 participants from 11 countries, tweeting their tales in English, Spanish and Italian. The tools employed in telling these stories are interesting too, and include crowd-sourced and multiple-character tales, as well as visual storytelling and some interesting collaborations. There will be horror, mystery, romance, sci-fi, drama, poetry, humor, and more.

Want romance? It’s here! You can even find it in a humorous reimagining of a popular PBS character.
