The World’s Classiest Photo Booth: Vanity Fair and Instagram Paint a Different Picture of Oscar Night
It’s often said that a picture is worth a thousand words.
If that is true, Vanity Fair just said it all.
In a clever marketing strategy, the legendary magazine partnered with Instagram, the photo-sharing social media app, to present the Oscars in a new and different way.
The annual Vanity Fair Oscar Party sits atop the list of exclusive after parties for Hollywood’s biggest night. In fact, The New York Times recently dubbed the excessive bash “a carnival of glitter and ambition.” Full of A-listers and Oscar winners, the Vanity Fair soiree is a venerable ‘Who’s Who’ of the entertainment industry.
In an effort to share the night with fans and followers, Vanity Fair and Instagram created a “photo booth” for the Oscar Party. But this was no ordinary photo booth. Run by renowned photographer Mark Seliger, who has shot for Rolling Stone, GQ and more, the project aimed “to capture a little of the glamour of Oscar night in a timeless yet modern and accessible way.”
