Austin’s weekly community newspaper, The Austin Chronicle, is celebrated for its continued support of the city’s flourishing music scene, including SXSW. Founded in 1981 by Nick Barbaro and Louis Black (who also co-founded SXSW), The Chronicle boasts a weekly readership of 195,000 and covers all types of events important to Austinites, from politics and culture to art and music. The Chronicle sponsors annual events from the Austin Music Awards to the Hot Sauce Festival.
