As Saturday Night Live settles in comfortably to its 39th season, and despite some criticism about its lack of diversity, the show seems to be fully embracing its role in social media.

From hiring members of the YouTube sensation Good Neighbors and other web-savvy writers to different campaigns across the social platforms, SNL makes it easy to tune in on a medium other than just television.  Here’s how:

#Freshman15

#AskSNL

These are YouTube videos where cast members take questions from SNL fans, answering questions ranging from pre-show rituals to the story behind the legendary Studio 8H llama.

By drumming up fan engagement during the week, SNL is banking on the fact that invested fans will tune in on Saturday to watch the live show. And I don’t know about you, but this comprehensive, creative and fun social media blitz has me hooked!

Do you follow any of the NBC SNL social media platforms, and if so, which ones?
