Not everyone understands the hashtag, but it has a use and a purpose. It’s to help people organize and track a conversation through Twitter (or other social media platforms). No one utilizes the hashtag better than Jimmy Fallon’s The Tonight Show. This brand knows how to make the most out of Twitter with its hashtag game, which not only encourages Jimmy Fallon’s Twitter followers to engage, but it also curates content for him to use on his show. If you have a brand on Twitter, and you want to encourage Twitter engagement, figure out a hashtag that might inspire your followers to share and talk about. Make it relevant (or not) to your brand. Take Jimmy Fallon’s hashtag game and make it your own.

I can’t wait to watch the The Tonight Show and see which tweets he chooses to read on-air! (This, my friends, is what we marketing peeps call a conversion. The hashtag prompted me to follow & engage on Twitter, and now I have converted into being a fan of the show. Well-played, Jimmy Fallon!)
