Instagram. It’s the place you share photos from your everyday life enhanced with filters, effects and borders. But, one woman has taken her Instagram photos to a whole new level.
Meet Christine McConnell, a photographer and self-taught baker with an outward appearance that resembles a 1950s housewife. But don’t let her conservative, refined outward appearance fool you. While she’s certainly capable of delicate masterpieces like this miniature of her parents’ house…
…Christine also bakes desserts that want to eat you as much you want to eat them.
This alarming image may make you fear for this kitty’s life, but don’t worry – this Alien-inspired head hugger is just an oddly-shaped sugar cookie glazed with milk, sugar and nutmeg. Caramel serves as edible glue, attaching the spine-tingling legs to the alien’s body.
Not all of Christine’s concoctions are monstrous. This beautiful (though admittedly gothic) cake features custom-made black candles and delicate white chocolate.
Sometimes her creations are a play on words, such as this “chicken pot pie,” featuring a beak and feet carefully carved out of carrots.
But then baking is just a hobby; Christine only bakes for friends and family. Instead, she makes a living as a photographer and model in her own creations. Of course, she combines her passion for baking and dark humor with her photography as often as possible. Just watch out for head huggers from Alien!
And speaking of 1980s classics, Christine also dressed up as The Gatekeeper from Ghostbusters for a recent photo shoot…
…as well as Lisa from Weird Science.
She enjoys other forms of cosplay as well, as shown by her Wonder Woman costume…
…and witch outfits.
She even got her friend Matt to play Jason in a series of photos depicting a date gone wrong.
Sometimes a little photo magic is all Christine needs to make the impossible seem utterly believable.
The quirky 32-year-old mother of three cats has no intention of quitting any time soon. She admits to having new ideas “every other minute” and hopes she never loses the energy to keep trying new things, both with her photography and baking skills.
