Someone in the San Francisco area wants to pay it forward, and he’s using Twitter to do it. An anonymous man with the Twitter handle @HiddenCash is sending out tweets with hints to where he has hidden $100 bills around the city.

According to The Bold Italic, a publication in San Francisco who had a conversation with this secret philanthropist, states this is also a social experiment. This person supposedly made a lot of money in real estate in the area and wants to give it back to the community (and also made donations to several local charities).

This doesn’t seem to be a hoax. ABC News in San Francisco reports that envelopes containing around $4,000 in cash have been found around the city in the last five days.

A citywide scavenger hunt for cash? Sounds like a lot of fun, San Francisco!

And it looks like it’s spreading …
