Alzheimer’s Research UK created a Facebook App to help people understand the effects of dementia. The app ‘takes over’ a person’s Facebook account and slowly deletes memories he or she has made and recorded on their timeline.
No worries though. Unlike dementia, everything is restored in the end. However, the app’s goal is to show how the memories, milestones and most important moments lived can be confused or forgotten altogether. In other words, someone can see how the symptoms of dementia can directly affect them and their memories.
And what better way to do it than on The Book? After all, that’s where people record their most precious moments. From graduating college to getting engaged, having a first child, becoming a homeowner or having grandkids, you can watch it all disappear, much like someone affected by dementia.

What do you think? Hundreds of thousands of people are affected by dementia. And they aren’t the only ones; the victim’s family also experiences the results of the disease.
Cheers to Alzheimer’s Research UK for creating the FaceDementia app and for picking up the slack in public awareness around dementia. Try it out and share it with your friends and family.
