Looking for a specific image on Pinterest can be daunting. With over 30 billion pins and limited SEO value created by non-brand pinners, finding new content, let alone specific content, can be time consuming. With that in mind, Pinterest announced its newest upgrade—Guided Search. This mechanism is currently only available in English for the mobile app, but, essentially, it adds a layer of search capabilities by breaking down your search terms into more detailed categories. Here are the details.
Not wanting a particularly healthy weekend, I searched for “chocolate pie.”
At the top of the search results was a scrollable banner listing sub-categories such as Easy, Recipes, with Oreo Crust, With Graham Cracker Crust, and much more.
Now, does choosing ‘Easy Chocolate Pie Recipes’ ensure that I will see all relevant pins? No, but it does reward those who have descriptive narratives to go with their pins.
Try the new guided search and let us know what you think.
