Outdoor Interactive Ads Make You Look Up
Truly creative digital marketing is no longer confined to tablets and mobiles. Technology has helped create some of the most eye-catching and innovative advertising the old-fashioned way—with outdoor signs.
The past few months have been filled with examples, from British Airways’ #lookup billboard in Piccadilly Circus, to the facial recognition cameras being used around the world to target ads for gender and age preferences. The latest example comes from Stockholm, where Apolosophy, a hair product that “Makes Your Hair Come Alive,” used ultra-sonic sensor technology to show a woman’s hair being blown by wind just as each train arrives. Apolosophy’s agency, BVD, initially meant to keep the ad active for 24 hours, but found it to be so popular that they bought the space for five additional days.
These interactive ads bring people’s attention away from their phones and give the world something it lacks sorely – whimsy in daily life.
