Texas Senator Dan Patrick (R) learned his lesson about the quick – and often unforgiving — nature of social media on Wednesday.

After a federal judge ruled that Texas’ ban on gay marriage was unconstitutional, Patrick attempted to tweet his disapproval of the verdict, arguing that marriage is sacred because it is a union between a man and a woman.  Instead, his disapproval came across as an endorsement for gay marriage, stating that “MARRIAGE = ONE MAN & ONE MAN”:

Truth be told, Patrick will likely benefit from his mistake with increased recognition and media reach as his “#twittertypo” continues to make headlines.  But hey, there’s no such thing as bad publicity right?
